Cohutta, GA – The 3rd annual Alice Lloyd College Eagle Invitational was held at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Georgia on October 28/29. Weather conditions were ideal, likely the last nice fall days we will see this year. Nob North was in terrific condition and did a great job managing the tournament.

Three teams were tied for first in the Men’s tournament, Bethel University (TN), Indiana University East and Cleveland State Community College, all shot 610 for the two rounds. The ties were broken using the score of the 5th player in the second round, resulting in Bethel taking first and Cleveland State second.

Rafael Bierana of IU East was the medalist, shooting 75/69 for an even-par 144. Nathan Hawkins of Covenant College took second with Peyton Shedd and Michael Osborne of Truett-McConnell, Blake Maupin of Pikeville Zac Douglas of Bethel and Wes Spiller of Cleveland State rounding out the all-tournament team of top 5 and ties. The results of the men’s tournament are published here.

Truett-McConnell won the Women’s tournament shooting 366 with Bethel second with 385. Medalist was Juliana Campbell, who shot 89/81 for a 170. The rest of the all-tournament team were Meghan Smith of Bethel and Leah Coker, Megan Edwards and Lillian Goff of Truett McConnell. The results of the women’s tournament are published here.

For ALC, team captain Aaron Minor led all Eagles golfers, shooting 76/75 for 151, T8 of the 80 men’s golfers, 1 stroke out of the all-tournament team. Reece Ison was T23 shooting 84/71, with the 71 being one of only 3 under par rounds of the 160 played. Brit Bowling was T68 with 90/81. Isaiah Penley shot 87 /85 to be T70 and Hayden Halbert shot 113/103 to finish 78th.

Overall, Eagles golfers finished 338/311, T9 of 11. This was our final event of the fall 2019 season, which like this tournament, had its ups and downs. We missed the NCCAA nationals as a team by one place in the rankings, but Reece Ison did qualify as the individual from our region.
