Pippa Passes, KY: On September 10th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team played host to Midway University. The match was a nail-biter the first two sets before the visitors pulled out the victory in set 3.

In set 1, the two squads battled at a furious clip as neither could gain the upper hand. Eventually, Alice Lloyd led 24-23, but MU closed the set on a 3-0 run to win 26-24.
In set 2, the visitors roared out to a 13-5 lead and had visions of a blowout in their minds. However, the ladies from Caney Creek would fight all the way back to take a 25-24 advantage. Unfortunately, once more, Midway would get the last 3 points of the set to win 27-25.
In crucial set 3, the visiting Eagles were determined not to lose their early lead. They managed to slowly pull ahead, and this time, permitted no come-back from the gutsy hosts. MU took the match 25-16 and earned the 3-0 victory.
On the day for the home team, Samantha Sturgill led the squad with 14 assists while Callie Richardson led in kills with 8. Mckenzie Brewer and Adrianna Riley’s 5 digs paved the way in that department.
