Pippa Passes, KY: On September 25th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team played host to the University of Pikeville. The match was close the entire way before the visitors pulled out the victory late in each contest.
In set 1, the two clubs battled to an 18-18 tie before UP closed on a 7-2 run to win 25-20.
In set 2, the two squads battled from the start as the game stayed close. Leading 20-16, the visitors closed the game with a run once more to win 25-17.
In crucial set 3, Pikeville jumped out to a quick lead and held it until the end. ALC did rally within four (24-20) but could get no closer than the final score of 25-20.
On the day for the hosts, Adrianna Riley led the way with 13 assists while Lindsey Perkins (5), Callie Richardson (5), and Jasmin Hamilton (4) led in kills. Haley Smith’s 7 digs paved the way in that department while Riley and Jenni Droke contributed 5 apiece.
