Danville, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams traveled to Centre College to participate in the 53rd annual Centre College Track & Field Invitational. In only the second meet in Alice Lloyd history, Coach Brandon Arnold had 23 athletes compete.
For the women’s squad, several individuals performed very well and helped earned points for the team.
Erin Jackson, earned 1 point after winning her heat in the 200-meter race with a time of 29.06, and an 8th place overall finish.
Brittney Buttrey also earned 1 point with an 8th place finish in the 10,000-meter race. She crossed the line with a time of 46:12.08.
Allie Rose won 5 points with her 4th place finish in the women’s discus throw, as she came through with a toss of 34.56 meters (113’5” ft).
The women’s 4×400 team, consisting of runners Hannah Bryant, Morgan Arthur, Rachel McCoy, and Erin Jackson, also gained 1 point with a 4:52.74 finish time.
On the men’s side, several individuals won their respective heats. Freshman Dakota Owens stood out by winning his heats in both the 100-meter race, in which he tied for first and in the 200-meter race.
In the 100m, Owens placed 6th overall with a time of 11.89 seconds to earn 3 points, while in the 200m, he placed 3rd overall and earned 6 points for the squad with a time of 23.40 seconds.
Owens was also a part of the ALC 4×100 team, which won 5 points with a finishing time of 46.43 seconds. The other members on the 4×100 team were Ian Lee, Alex Lewis, and John Driskill.
Alex Lewis was another Eagle who stepped up to win his heat, as he completed the men’s 1,500 with a time of 4:31.16.
For the second week in a row, Ryan Morris performed exceptionally well as he won the Men’s 10,000-meter race event. Morris was in command the entire way as he finished in a time of 34:31.93. His victory earned the squad 10 big points.
Finally, another member who stood out this week was freshman Andrew Crawford, who set a new personal best in both of his throwing events.
In both the men’s discus throw and men’s shot put, Crawford more than doubled his previous best throws.
The Eagles will continue their season at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival in Williamsburg, KY, on April 12th-13th.
