The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball team played host to the Bluefield College Rams in a 9 inning single game held on April 3rd. Below is a recap of the contest.

The Eagles fell behind early and rallied to take the lead. Unfortunately, they were unable to hold it in the final innings and fell to the Rams, 8-6.
The visitors would strike first as they scored 1 run in their opening at-bat.
The home squad would begin to eat into the deficit. The big blow came in the fourth when Dalton Cornett unloaded on a fastball and rode it out of the park for a home run.
One inning later, ALC, notched three runs in the fifth as Cornett, Alex White, and Hayden Martin all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Bluefield College took the lead for good with five runs in the sixth inning. They then were able to hold off a late Eagle rally to earn the victory.
Cornett and Reese Ison each collected two hits to lead ALC. Martin’s hit was a double.
Dylan Brown started on the mound and suffered the loss. He allowed nine hits and seven runs over five-and-a-third innings, striking out four. Adam Carnahan threw three and two-thirds innings in relief.
Justin Meza started on the mound for the Rams. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
Bluefield won the hitting battle, 11-8.
