Williamsburg, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball traveled to Williamsburg to face the powerful University of the Cumberlands Patriots (#10 NAIA) in a single game held on March 27. Below is a recap.

MARCH 27
ALC – 3 | UC – 13

Alice Lloyd jumped on the board first but was unable to maintain their advantage as they fell to the (28-4) Patriots, by ten runs.

The visitors would score 2 runs in the second. First, Chance Cornett drew a walk. Next, Alex White unloaded on a fastball and sent it soaring over the left field fence.

However, the home squad would answer in the bottom of the inning as they rode a three-run blast and a two-run shot on their way to scoring 6 runs. They ended the inning leading 6-2.

The score remained unchanged until the fifth inning. The Patriots would smack a 3-run homer to go up, 9-2.

ALC earned one of those back in the top of the sixth when Juan Lander smashed a pitch over the left field wall (9-3).

UC responded with 1 run in the seventh and 3 more in the eight to put the contest on ice (13-3).

White led the club with his home run and single. Lander also belted a home run. Unfortunately, those would be the only hits the visitors recorded on the day as they left 5 runners stranded on base.

Five different ALC pitchers took to the mound with Will Gladson recording the loss.

Cumberlands won the hitting battle, 14-3. The Eagles also hurt themselves with 4 errors.
