Bluefield, WV: On Saturday, September 29, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad traveled to Bluefield, WV to face the Cincinnati Clermont Lady Cougars and the home-standing Bluefield State Big Blues in back-to-back contests. Below are recaps of each match.

The Lady Eagles faced the UC Clermont College Lady Cougars to open the day, losing in a very competitive, five-game match, 3-2. 

Game 1 saw the Lady Eagles win 25-18, but they lost a nail-biter, 25-23, in game 2. The third game saw ALC battle back to win 25-16, but they dropped a 25-13 decision in game 4 to set up the deciding fifth game. In the last set, CC pulled away and held on for the 15-7 victory.

Junior Lindsey Perkins and freshman Sarah Howard led the team with 10 kills apiece, while sophomore Madison Fralix added five. Junior Samantha Sturgill had a 19 big assists while Howard and Perkins had 6 and 4 respectively.  Perkins also led the way in digs with 16, followed by Howard with 14 and sophomore McKenzie Brewer with 10. Perkins and Fralix shared the team lead with 4 blocks each and Howard and Fralix paved the way in aces with 4 and 3.

Despite playing in a back-to-back game, the Lady Eagles played inspired volleyball to win in commanding fashion, 3-0.

Game 1 saw the Lady Eagles win 25-15, and they would take game 2 in almost similar manner, 25-16. The third game saw ALC determined to prevent any comeback as they blew out to a massive lead and cruised 25-7.

For the game, Sarah Howard had 5 kills while Madison Fralix and Lindsey Perkins each had 4.  Samantha Sturgill led the team in assists with 14 while Howard had 4.  Perkins led the team in digs with 12, followed by Howard with 10 and freshman Anna Ferguson with 6.
