The 2018 Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles Volleyball season is preparing to start soon and Coach Nathan Hall is excited about the season’s prospects. Hall returns many important pieces from a squad that set a school record in wins last year and advanced to the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament semifinals. The second-year coach definitely looks to build on that momentum. “I like the direction we are going in and I feel really good about both our returning players as well as the newcomers we have brought in this year”, said Hall.
Juniors Emily Johnson, Alexis Napier, Lindsey Perkins, Haley Smith, and Samantha Sturgill return with a wealth of experience and will be joined by key sophomores Kelsie Jackson and McKenzie Brewer. Hall has also brought in seven newcomers who have the potential to contribute quickly, in Anna Ferguson, Madison Fralix, Jasmin Hamilton, Sarah Howard, Hannah Jude, Kimberly Lee, and Aislynn Trompler.
When asked about his expectations for this upcoming year, Hall replied, “We have been working hard and I am looking forward to this season a great deal. I would love to see us set a few new records!”
The season begins on Saturday, August 25 when the Lady Eagles host a tri-match with Hiwassee College and Boyce College. The event will be the first athletic contest to be played in the brand new Alice Lloyd College Campus Center gymnasium. The Lady Eagles will face Hiwassee College at 1:00 PM, Hiwassee College will play Boyce College at 3:00 PM, and the Lady Eagles will wrap up the tri-match with a game against Boyce College at 5:00 PM.
