PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to NCAA DII opponent, Bluefield State College, over the weekend for a doubleheader with the Big Blues.

GAME 1
BSC – 8 | ALC – 6

In game one, the Lady Eagles scored two in the opening inning when Alexis Napier singled and McKenzie Brewer crushed a fastball over the left field fence. The Big Blue tied things in the bottom of the inning.

ALC came right back in the second on a single from Madison Gaines. She would later score on a sacrifice bunt.

The hosts had an answer in their next at-bat as they produced four big runs, fueled by a three-run homer, to leap ahead 6-3. They would add one run in both the fourth and fifth innings, and take an 8-3 cushion heading into the final inning.

In the seventh, the Lady Eagles looked to gain ground as they scored three runs on the strength of four singles and a sacrifice fly. Trailing 8-6 with the tying run on second, the game, unfortunately, ended on a strikeout.

Napier had a big game going 3-4 at the plate while Brewer, Samantha Sturgill, and Kaitlyn Clark- Wyatt each added two hits. Alice Lloyd was outhit 16-11.

Emily Day earned the win allowing just 1 hit. Clark-Wyatt took the loss giving up 8 runs in four innings with 1 strikeout. Mercedez Gilliam threw the last two innings, allowing just one hit.

GAME 2
BSC – 12 | ALC – 7

In game two, the contest remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when BSC scored four runs. The Eagles produced three runs in the top of the fourth as they used five consecutive bunts to fuel the rally.

The momentum stayed on the side of the visitors as ALC rode five more bunts in the fifth and a triple from Samantha Sturgill to push the lead to 6-4.

The home squad fought back as they posted a big five-spot in the fifth to regain the lead at 9-6, and they would add three more in the sixth to set the score at 12-6.

In their final at-bat, the Lady Eagles answered with one run on a single from Kaitlyn Clark-Wyatt and a sacrifice fly from Emlee Adams, but the rally would fizzle out.

BSC outhit their foes 15-12 as Alexis Napier, Jada Estep, and Lydia McIntosh had 2 hits apiece.

Lexi Carter took the win on the mound. For ALC, Mercedez Gilliam started the game and went three innings allowing 4 runs. Morgan Albury suffered the loss on the mound in relief as she allowed 8 runs with 2 strikeouts.
