NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The NCCAA Mideast Regional Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to New Albany, Indiana to battle the always-tough Indiana University Southeast Lady Grenadiers on Sunday. Following are recaps of each contest.

GAME 1
IUS – 9 | Alice Lloyd – 1

The Eagles had runners on second and third in the opening inning but ended the rally by hitting into a double play. The hosts then displayed their firepower by scoring 2 quick runs in the bottom half.

Alice Lloyd answered in the third when McKenzie Brewer walked and Samantha Sturgill drove her in with a double. The score remained just 2-1 until the fourth when IUS scored 4 big runs, assisted by an error and 3 singles. They then iced the game one inning later with 3 more runs on 3 hits.

Pitcher Morgan Keefer went 4 innings to earn the win, allowing 1 hit while striking out 1. Morgan Albury took the pitching loss, allowing 9 runs on 11 hits. She stuck out 3.

Samantha Sturgill’s double and Morgan Albury’s single in the second were the only hits of the game for ALC. IU Southeast won the hitting battle, 11-2.

GAME 2
IUS – 14 | Alice Lloyd – 0

Game two was all Southeast as they raced out to a quick 4-0 lead. They blew the contest wide open with a huge 7 run third.

Pitcher Morgan Keefer went the distance to earn the win, allowing 4 hits while striking out 2. Kaitlyn Clark-Wyatt suffered the pitching loss, allowing 8 runs on 8 hits.

The home club outhit ALC 13-4. Alexis Napier, Jada Estep, Lydia McIntosh, and Madison Gaines each singled for the Lady Eagles.
