Grayson, KY: The backcourt duo of Blake Smith and Timmy Dalton combined for 52 points to lead the Alice Lloyd College Eagles to a fast-paced 105-102 victory over the home-standing Kentucky Christian University Knights. The non-conference matchup took place on Thursday, January 18.

The first half started out well for the home club. Sparked by the shooting of guard Brandon Barnes, the Knights roared out to a 34-21 advantage at the 9:52 mark, and appeared poised to blow the Eagles out of the water. Fortunately for the visitors, Smith and Dalton would lead a charge as they pumped in 18 points the remainder of the way. Their club would close the half on a 33-19 run and give Alice Lloyd a 54-53 advantage at intermission.

In the second half, the visiting Eagles would watch KCU inch ahead four points by the 15:34 mark before they rolled off another big run over the next five minutes to regain the lead, 74-65. Over the final ten minutes of action, ALC would extend their lead to double digits. A late rally by Kentucky Christian would make the final score close, but the guests held on for the nice victory.

For Alice Lloyd (10-7) four players reached double figures. They were led on the night by sophomore guard Smith with 27 points on 10-15 FG (4-5 3pt FG) and freshman Dalton with 25 points on 11-17 FG. Freshman guard Noah Young and junior forward Dondre Warren came off the bench to contribute 14 and 13 points respectively. Warren led in rebounds with 7 while three different Eagles each handed out 3 assists.

On the night, ALC shot well, as they made 53.7% (44-82) from the field including 42.1% (8-19) from long range. They were 60% (9-15) from the charity line and added 42 rebounds, 13 assists, and 6 steals.

KCU (8-11) was led by Barnes with a game-high 40 points. His club finished the game shooting 52.8 % (38-72) from the floor and 44.8% (13-for-29) from long range. They were 81.3% (13-16) from the foul line and added 34 rebounds, 23 assists, and just 1 steal.

ALC returns to conference action on Sunday, January 21 when they travel to Rio Grande, Ohio to face the Rio Grande Red Storm in an important matchup at 4:00 pm. The contest was postponed from an earlier date due to inclement weather.
