The second annual Alice Lloyd College Spring Invitational was played at Battlefield Golf Course in Richmond, KY on April 1st and 2nd. Teams from Madonna University (two teams), Indiana University Kokomo, Johnson University, Hiwassee College, Cincinnati State and ALC competed in the 36 hole event. Cincinnati State competed as 3 individual golfers. The course was very wet. The weather was overcast with temperatures in the 40’s Saturday, but was sunny and warmed up to the 60s on Sunday. The course played very well for early spring conditions.
NAIA 22nd ranked Madonna University Crusaders (A team) shot 288 both rounds for a record 576 to win the tournament. Justin Pahl of Madonna University shot 72/71 for a 143 to win medalist honors. All five of the all-tournament team; Justin Pahl 1st, Michael Gaulin, Eric Attard and John Tatti tied for second at 144, and Marc Herbert at 147 for 5th, were from Madonna University.
Eagles golfers shot 358/376 for a 724, good for 5th of 5 (The Madonna B team will not be listed in finalized results). Aaron Minor shot 77/81 for a 158 to finish 10th in the 33 player field. Jared Albright shot 80 both rounds for a 160 and finished 12th.
Eagles golfers have been improving the team score each event, mainly due to improvements in the games of Jordan Slone and Dustin Tackett. Complete results are listed here.
The final event of the year for Eagles Golf is the River States Conference Championship at Lassing Pointe in Union, KY on April 17th and 18th.
