On February 27, 2017, the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles traveled to Pikeville to face the University of Pikeville Lady Bears. The host Bears defeated the visiting ALC Lady Eagles 13-0 in the opener.
UPike captured the lead in the first inning on a stolen base and single.
A double by Rachel Cooper in the second inning was a positive for the guests, but her club was unable to drive her across home.
Chloe Johnson, Madisson Minks, and Cooper each managed one hit for ALC.
Hannah Thacker earned the win for the Lady Bears and Allison Shepard took the loss
The Alice Lloyd College Eagles fell behind, then made a nice rally before dropping a 14-5 decision.
Pikeville scored five runs in their opening at bat only to watch the Lady Eagles come back with a strong 5 run inning of their own. The visitors scored five runs in the second inning on the strength of two errors and a single by EmLee Adams.
Unfortunately, the Lady Bears regrouped with a big third inning. Despite their best efforts, ALC would get no closer.
At the plate, the Lady Eagles collected ten hits. Aly Webb, Laura Green, and Adams each collected multiple hits while Madisson Haymaker led the team with two runs batted in.
On the mound, Lindsay Floyd earned the win while Webb took the loss for the Lady Eagles.
