The Alice Lloyd College Men’s Golf Team played in the Skyhawk Invitational at Callaway Gardens Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia, on March 11 – 13. Temperatures were in the 40’s for the tournament and it rained late in the round on Monday; unusually cold conditions for this time of year in Georgia. The golf course was in great shape and the competition was among the best in the NAIA, with 20th ranked Point University, the tournament host, shooting 301/298 over the two competition rounds for a 599 and a 3 shot win over 26th ranked Reinhardt University in the team championship. Three players tied for the individual championship with a total of 146: Ben Dulin of Reinhardt (75/71), Francisco Oliveira of Point (72/74) and Larken Whittemore of Trevecca Nazarene (72/74), with Dulin winning in a playoff. There were only two rounds under par, both 1 under 71’s, for the whole tournament and only two rounds at par 72.

Eagles golfers shot 388/405 for a two-round total of 793 to finish 15th of 15 teams. Jared Albright shot 82/90 to finished tied for 77th of 92 golfers while Aaron Minor shot 93/86 for the two rounds to finish 82nd. Jared’s first round was a great round where just a couple of mistakes cost him. He played at the level of the best players there for 15 consecutive holes in tough conditions at the toughest course the Eagles play. Full results of the tournament are listed here.
