PIPPA PASSES, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team played host to the Pikeville Lady Bears Tuesday night for some exciting volleyball action. Even though our team came up short, it was definitely a hard fought match.

The hosts jumped out quickly to a 7-0 lead over the stunned visitors before the Bears regained their composure and rallied for a 25-19 win. In the second set, the game was tight early before UPike pulled away over the last half of the game to win 25-14. In the third set, the Eagles battled hard, but simply ran out of steam, falling 25-9.

Individually, several of the players really stepped up and showed great leadership and teamwork skills. #13 Haley Smith was a powerhouse in serving for the team last night while #10 Alex Hunter once again showed her teamwork skills with 15 assists. #14 Sam Sturgill paved the way with 22 offensive kills and #2 Lindsay Perkins had the most digs for the team on the night.

Eagle Nation is very proud of the way the Lady Volleyball Eagles competed Tuesday night and we know that they will continue to show improve as they prepare for the upcoming postseason.
