FLORENCE, Ky. — The 2015-16 All-KIAC Men’s Basketball Teams & Awards have been announced, and KIAC Player of the Year Tyler Rogers of Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College leads the list of honorees.
The All-KIAC teams were voted on by the 12 men’s basketball head coaches in the conference. There are 10 players on the All-KIAC First Team and 10 on the All-KIAC Second Team. Rogers, a 6-7, senior forward from Lexington, Ky., earned KIAC Player of the Year honors as the top vote-getter.
Rogers is averaging 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and an NAIA-best 3.9 blocks per game. He is shooting 52.5 percent from the field, good for fourth in the KIAC. He is eighth in the conference in scoring, 17th in rebounding and first in blocks.
The KIAC Coach of the Year is also with Alice Lloyd as Eagles’ coach J.R. Hammond received the honor with the vote of his peers. Hammond has led Alice Lloyd to a strong season. The Eagles are 17-11 overall and 11-5 KIAC. They won the KIAC Capital Division championship and are one of the No. 1 seeds in the KIAC Tournament. Alice Lloyd will host Point Park in the semifinals on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
The All-KIAC Second Team included Alice Lloyd (Ky.) guard Cody Stumbo (12.8 ppg).
Also named was the KIAC Men’s Basketball Champions of Character Team. One player from each team was selected as the one who best represents the five character values of the NAIA’s Champions of Character program — respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
