In the opening match, Coach Brandon Hayes’ club faced the host Tigers where they dropped a 74-57 decision.
Beechwood came out of the gates ready to play before the home crowd as they quickly jumped ahead of the Crusaders. Riding the scoring of Allison Johnson, they led by as many as 20 points. JBS fought back to reduce the deficit to 8 points, but they were in too deep of a hole to recover completely.
For Buchanan (2-3) Lindsey Proffitt led the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds. She was followed by Kaitlyn Everidge and Megan Hall with 13 and 11 points apiece. Lexi Likens added 9 while Breana Harrington and Haley Likens chipped in with 4 and 2 points respectively,
Beechwood (3-3) was led by Johnson with 27.
In the second game, JBS faced the Ludlow Panthers. Buchanan led at the half but was unable to hold on down the stretch, falling 52-43.
For the Crusaders (2-4) Lindsey Proffitt led the way with 22 points. McKayla Likens and Megan Hall each added 7. Breana Harrington chipped in with 5 points and 6 rebounds while Kaitlyn Everidge sank a bucket for 2 points.
