On Saturday, March 22nd, the ALC men’s golf team played in the Bryan College One-Day Invitational at Willowbrook Golf Course in Manchester, TN. Participating teams included Alice Lloyd, Bryan, Covenant, Berea and Hiwassee.
Course conditions were difficult. Fairways were dormant Bermuda grass fairways on firm mud. Such conditions require that a player pinch the ball (i.e., hit the ball with the club well in advance of hitting the ground with the club). Two of our players are skilled at this stroke — Drew Riley and Cody Hyden. Pin positions on the greens were difficult for every hole.
The lowest individual scores of the entire event were 78. Cody Hyden claimed the low score for ALC with an 85. Our team score was 394 for 6th of 6. Bryan College had the lowest team score at 318.
The men’s golf team will be playing for the ALC Men’s Championship at Stonecrest this Thursday and Friday (March 28th and 29th) with 1 PM tee times on both days. After that, the team will play in the Berea Spring Invitational on April 4/5th.
