The ALC Eagles faced two conference opponents over the weekend in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Indiana University East. Following are recaps of each game.
The Alice Lloyd Eagles faced St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Friday, defeating the Eutectics 71-43. The match-up took place in Berea, Kentucky at Berea College’s Seabury Center.
Throughout the first half, SLCOP kept things tight with the Eagles, but ALC went to the locker room with a 32-22 lead.
The Eagles expanded their lead over St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the second stanza, as they outscored the Eutectics 39-21 to win going away.
Alice Lloyd (9-11; 2-5 KIAC) was led by Terry Muse with 15. Cody Stumbo added 10.
St. Louis College of Pharmacy (5-7; 0-2 KIAC) was led by Shawn Menchowski with 12 points.
The Eagles shot 26-71 (36.6%) from the field, including shooting 11-14 from the charity stripe (78.6%). Their defense caused SLCOP to shoot only 17-57 (29.8) from the field.
The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Indiana University East on Saturday and came up short in a high-scoring affair against the Red Wolves, 101-85.
Indiana East would jump out to a 29-12 advantage early in the first half before settling for a 52-40 halftime lead.
In the second half, Alice Lloyd wasn’t able to overcome the deficit. The Red Wolves expanded the lead to as many as 19 before the Eagles made a run at the hosts. They would get within eight points, but could get no closer.
For ALC (9-12; 2-6 KIAC), Tyler Rogers had 17 points and 12 rebounds while Terry Muse scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Isaac Wilson, Justin Hobbs, and Nick Litton each chipped in with 10.
IUE (13-7; 3-2 KIAC) was led by Huston Clark with 24 points.
Alice Lloyd (8-13, 1-7 KIAC) shot 31-81 (38.3%) while Indiana East (13-7, 3-2 KIAC) was 37-67 (55.2%).
The Eagles next face Asbury University on January 24th in what will be another significant road test. That game will be played at 7:30 PM.
