The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles used a solid defensive effort in the second half, and rode the long range shooting of guard JJ Hickson to defeat Kentucky Christian 83-58 Tuesday night.

In the opening stanza, both teams matched each other point for point in a nip and tuck affair. When Hickson rebounded a missed free throw and sank a short shot at the buzzer, ALC led 41-40 at intermission.

In the second half, Hickson came out of the locker room on fire. At one point, she connected on six consecutive three point shots. With assistance from Ariel Nickell and Carla Booth on offense and a stellar team defensive effort the entire second half, the hosts exploded to outscore the Knights 42-18 over the final twenty minutes to win.

For the victors (2-1), junior guard Hickson led all scorers with 27 points. She connected on seven three point buckets.

Junior forward Nickell also added 20 points and a game high of 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Booth added 11 points and a game high 10 assists. Sophomore forward Carla McDaniel contributed 7 points and 8 rebounds.

For the Knights (2-2) Sharonda Jones led the way with 15 points.
