Han Gia Ly, senior biology major at Alice Lloyd College, recently won third place in the 99th Annual Kentucky Academy of Science research competition for her presentation on botany research. Held on November 8-9, 2013 at Morehead State University, the prestigious meeting was attended by nearly 800 scientists, professors, and students from colleges all across the state.

The Alice Lloyd Eagles came into their Final Four matchup riding the high of having won the program's first conference tournament game in 16 years. Playing in front of a home crowd at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center, the Eagles fought their second-ranked opponent for a spot in the championship, but couldn't withstand the power of CCU's big men, falling 77-56.

The 22nd Annual James V. Mongiardo Public Speaking Contest was held on February 25, 2014, at the Campbell Arts Center. This competition was established by the Mongiardo family in honor of the late James V. Mongiardo, who graduated from Alice Lloyd College in 1934 and was a faithful supporter of the College over the years.

The Alice Lloyd Eagles made the long trek to Owensboro, Kentucky on Tuesday, February 25th, to battle the Brescia Bearcats. In this quarterfinal matchup of the KIAC Tournament, ALC was thought to be the underdog. Despite the challenge of having to face a higher seed on their home court, the Eagles were able to rally late in the second half to force overtime and prevailed in the extra period, 75-71.
