Appalachia Day Homecoming

Join us on October 11, 2025, at the Appalachia Day Homecoming festival!

Alice Lloyd College holds its annual Appalachia Day Homecoming celebration every second Saturday of October. Hundreds of friends and alumni gather on campus to listen to traditional mountain music and peruse booths displaying the arts and crafts of Appalachian artisans. Other events that take place during this day of fun and fellowship include the annual Alumni Association Meeting, various athletic events, children’s storytelling, an Appalachian writers’ book signing, the induction of new members into the ALC Athletic Hall of Fame, the coronation of the Homecoming Queen and Princess, and the traditional soup bean supper.

Parking

Our college occupies a small campus, so parking spaces are limited. The earlier you arrive on campus, the better! There is one-way traffic through campus, and please note that the central campus will be closed to traffic after 9 a.m. Handicap parking will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Members of our campus security will direct those needing accessible parking to the designated areas.  Any of the members of our friendly staff would be happy to help you on Appalachia Day, so just look for them!

Vendor Information

As a longstanding courtesy to our crafters and authors, there is no charge for setting up a booth or table. However, you will need to provide your own tables and chairs. We encourage crafters to demonstrate the making of their crafts whenever possible.  Demonstrations add to the ambiance of the day and are something visitors enjoy. If electricity is required to demonstrate your craft, you must indicate this when you fill out your online registration form. Remember to bring your own extension cord(s). In keeping with tradition, items you bring to sell must involve handwork of some type.  Due to the Appalachian theme of the festival, commercially manufactured items will not be permitted.

In the past, several vendors have sold baked items along with their craft/author booths. However, to comply with state health regulations, ALL food items must be located in our designated Food Court. If electricity is required for your food booth, be sure to indicate this when you fill out your online registration form. If you are interested in having a separate booth for food, please contact the Marketing Office at 606-368-6055.

On the morning of Appalachia Day, a designated Registration Table will be available beginning at 7:30 a.m. Both ends of campus will be blocked off at 9:00 a.m., and traffic will not be permitted to travel through campus after that time.  Please allow yourself adequate time to set up your booth and move your vehicle to the designated roadside parking below Campbell Arts Center before 9:00 a.m. To accommodate crafters, we will offer a shuttle from the parking lot back to the central campus. Activities and general registration will officially begin at 9:00 a.m.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Jennifer Hall at (606) 368-6055.
