The Alice Lloyd men’s tennis program, under the direction of head coach Dustan Turner, is pleased to announce the signing of North Laurel’s Justin Maggard and The Piarist School’s John Gullett to athletic letters of intent for the 2013-14 season. Coach Turner recently made trips to London, KY and Martin, KY, returning to Pippa Passes with the fresh signatures of both young men.

Maggard joins his former Jaguars teammate Brad Baker at ALC.

“The campus felt like home,” Maggard said. “My mind was made up, and I didn’t need to visit any other schools.”

Alice Lloyd’s men’s tennis program is in its infancy. Going into only its second season of existence, Coach Dustan Turner is looking to build his team with quality student-athletes from Appalachia.

“We’re tickled to death to sign young men from this area,” Coach Turner said. “Justin is a good student and a good fit for us. As long as he’s willing to work and put forth the effort, he’ll be fine.”

Piarist’s John Gullett is another local talent who hopes to make an immediate impact for the Eagles.

John is a remarkable player,” Coach Turner said. “He is really going to help us build our tennis team.”

Gullett is set to graduate from The Piarist School on May 18th. He is the son of Greg and Janeah Gullett. His grandparents are the late Nelson Gullett and Billie Gullett and Lowell and Janet Arnett.
