Alice Lloyd played host to the Brescia Bearcats in a big conference showdown Saturday evening. In a highly entertaining contest that went down to the wire, BU held on to win 91-88.

In the first half, the contest was a close affair. However, Brescia shot a staggering 61% from the field in the first twenty minutes to take a 48-45 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles were down ten points with 5:00 to play. Refusing to go away quietly, the hosts fought and reduced the deficit to just one with under a minute to go, but unfortunately, they couldn’t quite complete the comeback. Both teams scored 43 points in the second half.

For Alice Lloyd (7-6; 2-1 KIAC) J.J. Hickson scored 28 points, including 6 for 16 from three-point range while Ariel Nickell pumped in 26 points and hauled down 9 rebounds. Carla Booth scored 22 points and added 5 assists.

Brescia (6-2; 3-1 KIAC) was paced by Jill Jones with 27 points.

The game was decided at the charity line. BU connected on 76.5% (26-34) while ALC shot just 65% (28-43).

From the floor, Brescia sank 48% compared to the Eagles 42.6%.

The Lady Eagles’ next game will be on December 17th when they play UPike at home (4 PM).
