Alice Lloyd College Athletics is pleased to announce that Rebekah Bevins, a senior from Logan, West Virginia, has been named to the 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list for fall sports. This list includes sixty student-athletes from the KIAC.

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution’s head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify for the honor.

Bevins, a standout on ALC’s volleyball and tennis teams, holds a 3.78 GPA as a business major at the College. She was also named to the list of Scholar-Athletes last season, so consistency is clearly a big component of her success on the court and in the classroom. As an Admissions Ambassador at ALC, Bevins is committed to helping the ALC Admissions Department recruit the brightest and best students from the Appalachian region.  She’s also president of Phi Beta Lambda (the college version of Future Business Leaders of America) and a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society.

About this grand achievement, Bevins said, “I’m very honored to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for a second time. I’ve been blessed to represent ALC on the volleyball and tennis teams for the past four years. The skills I’ve learned both athletically and academically at Alice Lloyd College will certainly assist me in the future.”

Bevins is set to graduate from ALC in May 2013.

Jason Stowers, ALC’s Volleyball head coach, was eager to comment on his middle hitter’s success, saying, “The ALC Athletic Department and the Women’s Volleyball team, in particular, are tremendously proud of what Rebekah Bevins has been able to accomplish in her career. Rebekah has been a great example of what a student-athlete should be. She is very deserving of any accolades that come her way. She has been able to maintain a very high standard in academics while competing in both tennis and volleyball. She has been a positive influence on all those she has come into contact with in her time at Alice Lloyd. Rebekah will be truly missed as she moves on to graduation. We know she will be a major success in whatever endeavor she chooses to pursue.”

Rebekah Bevins is an excellent representative of Alice Lloyd College, and our entire campus community is proud of her.  We can’t wait to see what this young lady does next!
