The ALC Eagles played host to the IU Southeast Grenadiers in four big conference contests over the weekend. Below are recaps of each game.

March 30

Game 1

IUS 6

The Eagles battled the defending conference champions hard before falling. The visitors outhit their hosts 12-3 to pull out the win.

Kevin Smith led the way with a double and batted in the lone run for ALC. Pitcher Neil Dillon never gave up more than two runs in any inning as he suffered the loss on the mound. He struck out 4 batters.

 

Game 2

ALC 5

IUS 4

The Eagles clawed back to win in the bottom of the seventh. The visitors outhit their hosts 10-6, but still suffered the defeat.

Six different Eagles had one hit apiece. Shane Pack had the game’s big blast as he drilled a huge 3-run homer.

Starting pitcher Cory Brewer pitched five solid innings before handing the ball over to Ian Delaney. Delaney pitched well in relief to earn the victory on the mound.

March 31

Game 1

ALC 0

IUS 3

Pitcher Wayne Sparks scattered 5 hits over 6 innings and only allowed 3 runs, but still suffered the disappointing loss. The visitors outhit their hosts 8-5 to pull out the win.

Five Eagles each had one hit apiece. Trey King smacked a double, but was left stranded on base as the Eagles’ bats were never able to get the one clutch hit that they so desperately needed.

Game 2

ALC 3

IUS 9

The game was tied 3-3 after seven innings, but IUS exploded for 6 huge runs in the first extra inning to win going away. The Eagles were outhit 14-9 from the plate and hurt themselves with 4 errors.

Trey Minton smacked 3 hits (including a double) and drove in 2 runs to lead the way. Cody Hyden and Devon Pelfrey each added 2 hits including a double apiece. Pitcher Trevor Corns suffered the loss on the mound.
