The Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY) Foundation looks for the brightest and best students who exemplify both academic excellence and leadership qualities. It is regarded throughout the country as one of the premier student seminars that inspires students to reach their fullest potential.

The June Buchanan School is proud to announce that Channing Everidge and Ian T. Hall are the recipients of the HOBY Award for 2012. HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States and include international students as well. In Kentucky, the program is held on the campus of Transylvania University. Students meet and converse with leaders in their community in fields such as volunteerism, media, education, philanthropy, and politics, among others.

Channing is the daughter of Steve and Angie Spady of Leburn, and Jeff and Kathy Everidge of Hazard. Channing hopes to further her interests in Japanese Language and Culture during her collegiate endeavors.

Ian is the son of Charles and Cindy Hall of Raven, and plans to study surgical medicine.

JBS congratulates these two exceptional students and looks forward to hearing of the great experience that HOBY provides them.
