The Alice Lloyd College Eagles played two games over the weekend. On Saturday they hosted the Warren Wilson College Owls, and on Sunday, they traveled to Pikeville to play the Shawnee State University Bears. Below are recaps of each game.

 

 

November 5th

Warren Wilson 57

Junior forward Brent Hall recorded his second consecutive double-double to lead the Alice Lloyd Eagles to a 63-57 victory over Warren Wilson.

The game was slow-paced in the first half, but the Eagles managed to pull ahead 33-32 at the break.

In the second half, Shawn Thompson gave ALC a lift, and they managed to hold on for the nice victory.

For the victors (2-0) Thompson led all scorers with 18 points. He also added 9 rebounds.

The Owls fall to 0-2 with the loss.

Casey Dalton and Clint Stepp added 12 and 9 points, respectively. Isaac Wilson led the way with 7 assists.

The Eagles survived despite shooting only 36% on the night.

November 6th

Shawnee State 55


Senior Casey Dalton drained a 23–foot shot just seconds before the buzzer sounded and propelled the Alice Lloyd Eagles to a thrilling 58-55 victory over Shawnee State University. The contest was played Sunday at The Pikeville Expo Center.

In the first half, the Eagles were involved in a grind-it-out affair, which led to the Bears taking a 27-24 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, ALC battled back and tied the game. The score seesawed back and forth until the end, setting up the stage for Dalton’s heroics.

For the victors (3-0), Dalton led the way with 17 points. Junior Brent Hall added his third consecutive double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Isaac Wilson chipped in 7 points and a game high 8 assists while senior Brandon Hayes contributed 5 points and 8 important rebounds.

Tyler Morgan led the Bears (1-1) with 13 points.

On the night, both teams connected on 43% from the field. The difference in the game was behind the arc as Alice Lloyd connected on 9-20 (45%) compared to just 4-15 (27%) for Shawnee.
