The 2010 June Buchanan Cross Country Team, coached by Willie Anderson, proved to be an exciting one.  The team was dedicated, focused, and accomplished the goals that were made before the season began.  The goals were to place runners on the Area 9 Team and win the 3 Rivers Conference. The team consisted of 19 boys from grades 4-9.  The middle school team was made up of Braxton Hayes, Simon Christon, Chance Cornett, Austyn Turner, Taylor Thornsberry, Hunter Hylton, and Zachary Fleming.  The elementary team consisted of Trey Moore, Dalton Cornett, Colton Jacobs, Connor Jacobs, Erric Sexton, Jake Long, Hunter Hammond, Kolton Hofsess, Dalton Hylton, Isaiah Bryant, Kason Hofsess, and Nikolas Cornett.

Taylor Thornsberry, Simon Christon, Zachary Fleming, Chance Cornett, and Austyn Turner were chosen for the middle school Area 9 team.  This team consisted of the top 10 runners in our area (which includes about 12 counties in eastern Kentucky).  Taylor Thornsberry placed 3rd and Zachary Fleming placed 4th overall in the Area 9 race.  The elementary team placed 2nd overall in the Area 9 race at Harlan County High School. Trey Moore, Colton Jacobs, Connor Jacobs, Dalton Cornett, and Hunter Hammond were chosen as 5 of the top 10 runners in Area 9 for the elementary level. This honor is very prestigious because each runner is selected by the votes he receives from other coaches in this area.  This was the 2nd consecutive year that Taylor Thornsberry and Zachary Fleming were chosen as top runners in the Area 9.

June Buchanan hosted the 3 Rivers Conference at Camp Nathanael.  The middle school won 1st place with 8 of the runners placing in the top 10 positions.

This season has shown these young men that hard work and dedication pay off.  By accomplishing each of the goals established at the beginning of the season, these athletes now know that they can achieve anything they put their minds to!  This has been a phenomenal season, and we cannot wait to see what exciting new challenges the JBS Cross Country team will face next season.
