As a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Alice Lloyd College is a proud participant in the “Champions of Character” program.  Recently, the NAIA released a list of 204 colleges to receive their prestigious “Five Star Award” for obtaining a score of 60 or more points in areas such as character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character focus.ALC earned an overall score of 81 points and finished with the 12th highest total score among all NAIA member institutions.  This recognition comes as no surprise to ALC Director of Athletics, Gary D. Stepp.  ““This award is a total reflection on the commitment from our coaches and student athletes toward demonstrating how much character matters. The entire philosophy of our school since its founding by Mrs. Lloyd and Miss June is one of service to others,” Stepp commented.Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioner Bill Melton stated, “I am proud of ALC. I commend their athletic director, coaches, and student athletes for a job well done. I hope to see all of our conference schools achieve this honor.”“Five Star Award” recipients will be recognized on the NAIA “Champions of Character” website and will receive a special web banner and certificate noting the honor. Presidents, athletic directors, and conference commissioners from award winning colleges, universities, or conferences also will be recognized at the 70th Annual NAIA National Convention in April.{nl}{nl}
