Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does ALC have cases of COVID-19 on campus?
A: No members of the Alice Lloyd College and June Buchanan School community are known to have been diagnosed or come into contact with COVID-19.

Q: Will seniors who are scheduled to graduate in May still be able to graduate?
A: Yes.

Q: Will students be able to fulfill their academic requirements for this semester even if they do not return to campus physically?
A: Yes.

Q: How will I finish my classes this semester?
A: Beginning Monday, March 23rd, ALC students can complete work in their courses through remote instruction for the foreseeable future.  A final decision regarding instruction for the remainder of the semester will be made by April 5th. 

Instructors in your classes will contact you using your campus email with instructions for completing assignments in your courses.

Q: What if I don’t have access to a computer or WIFI to complete the remote learning assignments assigned by my instructors?
A: Contact the Academic Dean (claudecrum@alc.edu or 606-368-6062).

Q: Will students have to make up work hours missed, or how will their work requirements be fulfilled? How will convocation requirements be fulfilled?
A: There will be no penalty for missing normal student obligations (work, convocation), due to this unforeseen circumstance.

Q: What about pre-registration for the fall 2020 semester?
A: Pre-registration will open March 23rd at 12:00 am. You can pre-register using the Eaglenet portal. If you have questions or need help pre-registering for classes, contact the Registrar (danadotson@alc.edu), the Academic Dean (claudecrum@alc.edu), or your faculty advisor.

Q: Can I return to campus to retrieve my books, computer, etc. that I may need for remote education?
A: Yes, you may return to campus to gather these items.  Please contact the Student Services Office to schedule a time to do so.

Q: Is food available for students who are remaining on campus?
A: Take-out food service is available from Pioneer Food Services for students, faculty, and staff on campus.  All meals will be served from the Hunger Din in Davis Student Center. Miss Irma’s Café is closed for now.

Breakfast                 7:30-8:30 am.
Lunch                      11:30-1:00 pm.
Dinner                      5:00-6:00 pm.
Saturday Brunch     11:00 – 12: 00 pm
Saturday Dinner      5:30 – 6:30 pm
Sunday Lunch         12:00 – 1:00 pm

Q: What about commencement?
A: We will continue to evaluate this decision and communicate additional information regarding graduation in the weeks to come.

Q: Are on-campus events cancelled?
A: Yes.  On-campus events through April 12th have been cancelled or rescheduled. 

Q: Are athletic events cancelled?
A: Yes.  The NAIA and NCCAA have cancelled all spring sports.

Q: Are staff and faculty on campus?
A: Alice Lloyd College is not closed.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Q: Is the Perry Campus Center open?
A: The Perry Campus Center is closed until further notice.

Q: What is the college doing to protect the ALC community?
A: A team of college officials continues to closely monitor the latest recommendations from the CDC and Kentucky Department for Public Health.

We have developed protocols to limit potential exposure.

The college is also working to prevent the spread of germs on campus through enhanced cleaning and disinfection, including:

    • Increased cleaning of high-touch areas, such as doorknobs, elevator buttons, surfaces in common areas, etc.
    • Installed hand sanitizing stations across campus.
