Justin Hazlewood, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. The gift of fear is an essential safety mechanism that everyone possesses. Fear is the key survival tool that every human possesses. Sometimes it comes in the form of a person who won’t take no for an answer, an uneasy feeling that comes over you, a stranger that offers help that is not solicited, or from threats of violence that are ignored. Fear can assist people, if we act upon gut instincts, it can help keep us all free from becoming a victim of a crime.
