Milligan College, TN:  For the second time this season, the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles roared back from a halftime deficit to upend the Milligan College Lady Buffalos The 73-66 non-conference victory took place in Tennessee on December 30th.

The visiting squad was playing without the services of senior guard Katie Moore, who is out with an injury. The start of the game saw the hosts lead early, and they would hold a 19-13 advantage after ten minutes.

In the second quarter, the Lady Buffaloes would extend their advantage to 31-22 with 3:30 remaining before the Lady Eagles answered. Freshman center Emma Maggard made an old-fashioned three-point play while junior guard Haley Hall would score four points to spark a 13-5 run. Milligan would take a 36-35 advantage into the dressing room.

In the third stanza, Coach John Mills’ ladies went to work on the defensive end as they would push their advantage out to fifteen points. They held the home club to only 9 points while scoring 17 themselves, and when the dust settled to end the period, ALC led 52-45.

In the final quarter, MC battled but was unable to get closer than six points as ALC bagged their free throws to earn a nice victory.

For Alice Lloyd (8-5), Hall led the way with 20 points She played a solid game as she also led the team with 7 rebounds and added 2 steals and 2 assists. Junior guard Ali May swished in 13 points while freshman guard Jasmine Eley contributed 10. In addition, senior forward Mckayla Akers also grabbed 7 rebounds while junior guard Shelby Davis recorded 3 assists. Maggard recorded 2 blocks.

ALC won despite shooting just 33.8% (26-77) from the field and 28 % (7-25) from long range.  They would finish at 60.9% (14-23) from the charity stripe. Additionally, they registered 50 rebounds, 6 assists, and 13 steals.

Milligan (4-10) was led by Halie Padgett with 16 points. Her club connected on 37.3% (25-67) from the field and 24% (6-25) from long range. At the foul line, they went 10-11 for 90.9%.  They also had 46 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action on December 31st in an exhibition match at NCAA DII Tusculum University. They return to regular play on January 7th in conference action at Ohio Christian University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
