Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles opened River States Conference play as they faced the highly regarded Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers on Tuesday night. The hot-shooting visitors got off to a blistering start and claimed the 109-65 victory.

From the tipoff, the guests came ready to play as it seemed they could not miss. IUS poured in 31 points in the first 9:30 of the opening half to race out to a quick 31-13 lead. ALC got some good looks, but the rim was unkind. In the meantime, the Grenadiers kept their hot hand. They would enter intermission leading 57-31.  In the second half, the home club would never threaten as Southeast continued to bomb away.

For the Eagles (6-5; 0-1 RSC), three players reached double figures. They were led in scoring by senior guard Blake Smith with 16 points. Sophomore guard Bryce Slone contributed 11 while senior guard Ian Lee added 10. Alice Lloyd shot just 37% (27-73) from the floor and finished 31.8% (7-32) from behind the arc. They connected on 67% (4-6) from the foul line, and also added 39 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

IUS, (7-3; 1-0 RSC) was led in scoring by Jocobi Hendricks with 25 points. His club finished shooting a blazing 53.3 % (40-75) from the floor and was accurate from deep, finishing at 48.5% (16-33). They shot 72.2% (13-18) from the foul line, and also added 46 rebounds, 20 assists, and 5 steals.

ALC is off until Saturday when they travel to Owensboro, KY, to face conference foe Brescia University at 4:00 pm (EST).
