Powell, TN: On August 30th and 31st, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Crown College for their first road game of the season. They followed that up the next day by traveling to Gallatin to face home-standing Welch College as well as Cleveland State CC in a tri-match. The squad took two out of the three contests. Below are recaps of the three contests.

ALC earned their first win of the young season in a solid opener. In the first game, the two squads battled before the Eagles pulled away down the stretch to win 25-19. The guests looked solid in game 2 and earned a big 25-12 victory. Alice Lloyd would then complete the sweep and take game 3 by a 25-19 score.
On the day for the hosts, Samantha Sturgill led the squad with 28 assists while the group played well overall. Lindsey Perkins led in kills with 12.

The two squads displayed a solid effort as neither refused to back down. In the end, ALC would make a valiant comeback to win in five sets.
Welch roared out of the gates in game 1 and then had to fight to hold on for a 25-13 win. Alice Lloyd would then earn the close win in set 2, 25-23. The third game was all Welch as they won solidly, 23-13. Game 4 was a dog-fight but ALC earned a big 26-24 victory to force the tie-breaker. The fifth set was a battle as the hosts pulled away from a 5-5 tie to win 15-10.
On the day for the victors, Haley Smith led with 35 assists and Callie Richardson led with 12 kills. Adrianna Riley had 20 digs.

The Lady Eagles ran out of steam as they dropped the final match of the trip. Cleveland earned Game 1 with a 25-19 win. ALC fought in game 2 but, came up short, 25-22. The Lady Eagles then fell behind in the third set and dropped the 25-15 decision.
