Brittney Buttrey

Eaton, OH: The Alice Lloyd Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams, coached by Brandon Arnold, traveled to the Buckeye state to compete in their first-ever River States Conference Track and Field Championships. This year’s event was hosted by Indiana University-East.

In women’s action, senior Brittney Buttery gave a solid effort as she finished in 7th place overall in the Women’s 10000-meter run to earn 2 points for the squad.

Additionally, freshman Allie Rose just missed placing in the shot put, finishing 9th out of 25 participants. Several other Lady Eagles were close to qualifying for final events in several categories as well, while the club finished in 11th place for the two-day meet.

In men’s action, Ryan Morris looked impressive as the junior finished in 3rd place overall in the 10000-meter run. His time of 35:04 was good enough to earn 6 big points for the squad.

Freshman Dakota Owens qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter run. In the 100, he finished 7th in a time of 11.46 seconds and earned 2 points. In the 200, he finished in 6th place with a time of 23.16. This effort earned an additional 3 points for the Eagles.

Freshman Alex Lewis also qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run, and his 8th place finish of 2:02 earned 1 point on the day.

The Eagles’ relay teams really performed well at this meet, as the 4×100 and 4×400 team each placed and won points.  The Eagles’ 4×100 team, consisting of runners Silas Stambaugh, Richard Cornett, Dakota Owens, and John Driskill, placed 5th and earned 4 points with a time of 47.40 seconds, while the same group placed 8th overall in the 4×100 to earn 1 point.  

Several other Eagles were close to qualifying for final events in several categories as well. The club finished in 9th place for the two-day meet.
