Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles fell behind by fifteen points in the first quarter before going on a dominate run to defeat the visiting Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers 97-76. The River States Conference match-up was held Thursday night.

ALC opened the game like a club that was still on Christmas break while the Trailblazers roared out of the gates on fire. OCU guard Helania Lemas scored 7 quick points to propel her club to a commanding 21-6 advantage with 3:57 showing.

On the verge of being blown out in front of the home fans, ALC answered. Coach John Mills received 7 consecutive points from his bench and watched his club cut into the lead. Ohio led 23-16 after one quarter.

The second quarter saw a blitzkrieg. After OCU scored a quick bucket to go up 25-16, ALC junior guard Katie Moore drilled back-to-back trifectas to give her club a big boost. Next, freshman forward Bailey Brainard scored and Lady Eagle sophomore guard Haley Hall sank two free throws at 7:27. This gave the home club their first lead at 25-24.

The two guards were not finished. Hall and Moore then personally produced a 9-0 spurt over the next minute. Suddenly with 6:29 showing, the Lady Eagle led 34-25. In a span of three minutes, the backcourt tandem had fueled a 18-0 run.

Both the crowd and the Trailblazers were stunned, and the home squad would take a 53-43 cushion at intermission.

In the third quarter, the visitors would fight to within five points (55-50) at 7:02 only to watch ALC close the period with a solid 13-5 run. The guests still trailed (68-55) with ten minutes to play.

In the final stanza, OCU was never able to get closer than 13 points the rest of the way as Alice Lloyd slammed the door shut.

For ALC (7-4; 4-1 RSC) Hall led the way with 22 points (4-8 3PT FG), 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Moore followed behind with 17 points (5-12 3PT FG). Sophomore guard Ali May and sophomore forward Shelby Davis came off the bench and provided a big spark with 14 and 11 points respectively. May drilled 4-8 long bombs of her own. Freshman guard Hannah Kash led the way with 5 assists while adding 6 rebounds.

Alice Lloyd connected on 43.4% (36-83) from the field and 40.3% (18-44) from long range. They finished at 50% (7-14) from the charity line, and also had 58 big rebounds, 4 steals, and 25 assists.
