ALC's Chance CornettMidway, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles jumped out to a 13 point lead in the opening half, but were unable to sustain the momentum and fell to the home-standing Midway University Eagles, 95-83. The River States Conference matchup was held on Tuesday, January 8.

In the first stanza, the two squads played evenly to open up the contest. With the score knotted at 10 with 17:28 showing, the visiting Eagles went on a roll.

Over the next seven minutes, ALC would produce a big run. When senior guard Ryan House drained a trifecta at the halfway point, the score was 28-15.

Rather than roll over, MU would answer in resounding fashion. The hosts would proceed to unleash a 33-8 blitz to finish up the half and would take a 48-36 advantage at intermission

In the second half, Midway would hold their double-digit lead most of the way. Alice Lloyd would make one late run to get within eight points, and they would then get an attempt to shrink the deficit even more. Unfortunately, the shot was short and the hosts would then close out the game to earn the victory.

For ALC (7-10; 2-5 RSC), they were led by junior guard Blake Smith and junior forward Chance Cornett, each with 27 points. House would finish with 13 points and 3 steals.

Senior forward Simon Christon led the squad with 12 rebounds while sophomore guard Noah Young had 4 assists.

The Eagles connected on 41.1% (30-73) from the field and 36.8% (7-19) from long range. They hit 76.2% (16-21) from the foul line and added 39 rebounds, 11 assists, and 9 steals.

MU (9-6; 4-3 RSC) was led by Kwon Evans with a game-high 32 points. His club connected on 52.2% (35-67) from the field including 36.8% (7-19) from long range. They hit 78.3% (18-23) from the foul line and added 43 rebounds, 17 assists, and 7 steals.

ALC returns home on Thursday, January 10, for an important conference showdown with Asbury University. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
