We award the Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor to volleyball junior Samantha Sturgill.
Sturgill, a native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, played well in the doubleheader last week at Johnson University Against highly-ranked JU, in a tough 3-0 defeat, she led the squad with 8 assists and 12 digs while adding 3 kills. In the hard-fought 3-0 loss to Welch, she led the squad in assists once more with 13 and added 14 digs. Finally, in a 3-0 decision at the University of Pikeville, she once more paced the club in both assists (11) and digs (9).
