In the opening game, the hosts raced out to a 20-8 lead and coasted from there to win 25-16. The Eagles played equally as well in game 2 as they roared out to the same exact score before earning a 25-14 decision. In game 3, Coach Nathan Hall’s squad led by a narrow 13-10 score against the scrappy Warriors. Determined not to allow any sort of comeback, the home club would close the contest on a 12-5 spurt, with junior Alexis Napier’s two big aces accounting for the final points in the 25-15 clincher.
On the day for the hosts, juniors Lindsey Perkins and Haley Smith paved the way with 5 kills apiece while freshman Sarah Howard led in the assists category as she handed out 7. She also tied Smith and junior Samantha Sturgill with 4 digs each. In addition, Howard and Smith each contributed 5 aces while Perkins was right behind with 4 of her own.
The Lady Eagles (3-3) return home this Saturday, September 8th for a big NCCAA showdown with Johnson University (TN) at 2:00 pm.
