Kokomo, IN: Alice Lloyd College battled the home-standing Indiana University-Kokomo Cougars for forty minutes before falling 109-97 Saturday afternoon in River States Conference action.

From the tipoff, the two clubs battled point-for-point as neither could make a run over the first ten minutes. Leading 23-21, IUK would then go on a 12-3 run to pull ahead 35-24 with 6:29 remaining. The Eagles would refuse to back down and when freshman guard Timmy Dalton sank a hoop with .28 remaining, the deficit was reduced to just three (46-43) at intermission.

 In the second half, the visitors would take their last lead of the night (52-51) at 17:42, courtesy of an Austin Crisp jumper. However, the home club would then go on a 31-19 run over the next ten minutes to gain some separation (83-70). Alice Lloyd would fight back and get within six points (101-95) with just 1:06 showing, but Indiana would ice the game from the charity line.

For ALC (7-2; 1-1 RSC), four players reached double figures. They were led in scoring by Dalton with a game-high 32 points. He added 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Sophomore guard Blake Smith finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds while senior guard Crisp added 15 points and 3 assists. Senior center Jake Allen chipped in with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Alice Lloyd shot 39.8% (33-83) from the floor and finished 40.9% (9-22) from behind the arc. They connected on 68.8%% (22-32) from the foul line, and also added 43 rebounds, 9 assists, and 9 steals.

IUK, (4-6;1-1 RSC), which was led in scoring by forward Trent Elliott’s 21points, finished shooting 52.5% (32-61) from the floor and 52.4% (11-21) from behind the arc. They shot 77.3% (34-44) from the foul line, and also added 42 rebounds, 22 assists, and 8 steals.

ALC returns to action this Tuesday when they host Campbellsville University at 7:00 pm. They then journey to Owensboro, Kentucky, on December 8th to battle conference opponent Brescia University at 3:00 pm central.
