We award the Eagles Female Athlete of the Week honor to basketball player Kayla Wilson and to the entire Women’s Cross Country squad.

Kayla Wilson, a native of Corbin (Ky.), was impressive as her club went 2-1 last week.The guard scored 17 points (8-16 FG), and added 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in the 100-58 win over Kentucky Christian University. She then pumped in 23 points (9-17 FG) and added 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in a 94-91 overtime loss to 24th ranked Milligan College. She closed out the week with 10 points (4-9 FG) 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 8 steals at Welch College in an 83-46 win. On the week, Wilson averaged 16.6 points, 8 rebounds, 4.6 steals, and 5.3 assists per game.

The Women’s Cross Country team made history over the weekend. In the NCCAA DII National Championships held in Jackson, Mississippi, the Lady Eagle runners team finished in 3rd place overall.  Each runner ran a personal best in the meet, which catapulted the club to the winner’s podium. The squad was only 4 points behind second place, and returns their entire roster next season.
