Swannanoa, NC:  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles roared to a stunning 57-26 halftime lead and cruised to victory 97-79 over the home-standing Warren Wilson College Owls on Saturday.

In the opening period, ALC shot well and pulled out to a 26-12 lead .In the second stanza, they were absolutely on fire, pumping in 30 points in ten minutes to take the commanding 31 point lead into the locker-room.

In the second half, WWC would battle back, but ALC was able to keep their foes at bay. The Eagles were never threatened as they pulled out the nice victory.

For the victors (2-0,) four players reached double figures. They were led in scoring by hot-shooting freshman guard Haley Hall, who pumped in 21 points on 8-17 field goals. She added 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

She was joined in double-digits by freshman center Alexandria Clifton, who finished with 16 points on 8-13 shooting, and she added 4 rebounds and 1 block.

 Savvy senior twin guards Miranda Wilson and Kayla Wilson contributed 14 and 13 points respectively on 6-11 and 5-9 shooting. They also combined to sink 5-10 from deep, while Miranda added 7 assists and 4 steals, and Kayla added 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals of her own.

Freshman Bailee Brainard contributed a team-high 7 rebounds and added 7 points.

The Owls (0-3) were led by 24 points from guard Amber Godfrey.

Alice Lloyd finished shooting 49% (37-75) from the field and 38.5% (10-26) from deep. They finished 86.7% (33-47) from the foul line. They also added 42 rebounds, 21 assists, and 23 steals.

Warren Wilson finished shooting 40.6% (26-64) from the floor and 29.2 % (7-24) from behind the arc. They shot 95.2% (20-21) from the foul line. They also added 44 rebound, 11 assists, and 8 steals

Alice Lloyd plays their home opener on Tuesday when they face the Kentucky Christian Lady Knights. Game time is set for 6:00 pm. It will be followed by the men’s contest at 8:00 pm.
