PRESTONSBURG: KY  The 2017 ALC Fall Invitational was held from Sunday Sept 10 to Tuesday September 12 at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, KY. It was cloudy and cool the first day, but sunny and very nice the second day. As usual, it was windy at Stonecrest both days, but they did an outstanding job hosting the event by setting up different tee positions and hole locations for both days of competition as well as marking the course and having the turf in fantastic condition.

Seven schools were represented in the meet. They were: Alice Lloyd College, Welch College, Indiana Tech, Cincinnati Christian University, Ohio Christian University, Georgetown College and the University of Pikeville, with six of them fielding teams.

For the event, ALC golfers shot 324/323 to finish 4th of 6, one stroke ahead of Ohio Christian University and eight strokes ahead of Cincinnati Christian University. Reece Ison lead Eagles golfers shooting 76/79 for a two round total of 155, and tied Austin Taylor of Cincinnati Christian University for the best score by a River States Conference player. 

Additional results for the hosts  were: Aaron Minor carded a pair of 80’s to shoot 160, Jared Albright shot 162, Isaiah Penley shot 170, Tyler Davis shot 181 and Dustin Tackett shot 242 for the Eagles.

The University of Pikeville won the tournament, shooting 291/308 for a 599 and a 3 shot team win over Indiana Tech. UPikes Burgess Clark shot 70/75 for a 1 stroke individual win over Indiana Tech’s Dathan Terry. Kaleb Lester of Georgetown, Roger Maynard of Pikeville and Dylan Holsclaw of Indiana tech rounded out the all-tournament team.

The Alice Lloyd golf program wishes to thank Bob Boyd of Bob’s Southern Smokehouse in Pikeville for providing and grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and to Jonathan Wilkes of Pioneer Food Services for providing drinks and snacks. Special thanks also go to Dian and Randy Slone for providing hot dogs.

The Eagle golfers return to play when they travel to Richmond, IN for the Earlham College Invitational at the Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond on Sept. 30/Oct 1.
