BEREA, KY:  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles concluded the regular season by traveling to Berea on Saturday to face the home-standing Lady Mountaineers in a doubleheader.

In game one, the two teams fought to the last at-bat before the hosts prevailed 4-3.

Samantha Sturgill scored in the second on a fielder’s choice to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. They would add two runs in the third when Laura Green smacked a hit to right field driving in both Elizabeth Prater and Rachel Cooper.

The Lady Mountaineers would regroup and chip away at the deficit. They would plate one run in the fourth inning and add two more in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3.

In the top half of the seventh, ALC would get two runners on base but were unable to score the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the inning, Berea opened with a double. A groundout advanced the runner to third and she scored the game-winner on a sacrifice fly with two outs.

The Eagles were outhit 12-6. Prater led the way with two hits while Green had two RBI’s.

Aly Webb suffered the tough loss on the mound. She allowed twelve hits and four runs while striking out 3.

In game two, BC jumped ahead quickly with a six-run opening inning and rode the three-hit shutout of pitcher Markiara Smith to win 7-0.

Allison Shepherd threw 4 innings while suffering the loss. She allowed six hits and six runs while striking out 3 batters.

The Eagles were outhit 10-3.
