Alice Lloyd College held its annual Honors Day celebration on Tuesday, April 11th. Students were recognized for their exceptional achievements in academics. Various awards were handed out for excellence in specific subjects and majors. Awards for special achievements made by students in various organizations and community service projects were also announced.

The ceremony opened up with an invocation from Richard Bowers and the song “What Wondrous Love Is This” was sung by members of the Voices of Appalachia. President Joe Alan Stepp commented on the improvements that are being made to the campus and said, “We have been truly blessed with how fast the projects are moving.” The new JBS daycare facility is finished and the outdoor student recreation area is mostly completed with just a few final touches to be added. The new campus center is still on the first stage of construction, expected to be completed by August 2018. During the summer, Carrick, a women’s residence hall, will receive new furniture.  An online student portal is being developed for more efficient student services, such as registration.

“Honors Day is an opportunity for the faculty, staff, and students at ALC to come together to recognize the achievements of our best students,” said Claude Lafie Crum, Alice Lloyd’s Academic Dean. “So many of our students excel in academics and demonstrate such a strong character, and it truly was a privilege to celebrate those achievements with them.”

Alice Lloyd College is extremely proud of the successes of its students. Below is a list of all the day’s honorees.
