MADISONVILLE, TN– The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles softball team traveled to Madisonville Tennessee on Tuesday to face the Hiwassee Tigers in a doubleheader.

 In game one, the Eagles gave up three runs in the opening inning and suffered a 3-0 loss.

Hiwassee scored their runs on two doubles and a single to leap ahead 3-0 after one inning of action.

From that point, ALC pitcher Aly Webb regrouped to mow down the Tiger batters and held them scoreless the remainder of the way.

ALC had opportunities to cut into the deficit but were unable to get the one timely bat they needed. Elizabeth Prater and Laura Green each had two hits.

Mckenzie Bedwell earned the win for HC. She went seven innings, giving up zero runs, four hits, striking out one, and walking zero.

 Webb took the loss for Alice Lloyd. She tossed six innings, surrendering three runs, six hits, striking out two, and walking zero.

Game two was eerily similar to the opener as the Eagles suffered a 4-0 loss Tuesday. The Tigers scored on a passed ball and a groundout in the second inning. They got all of their runs early and made them stand up.

 Emlee Adams, Samantha Sturgill, and Rachel Cooper each collected one hit to lead Alice Lloyd.

 Angie Pollock earned the win for Hiwassee College. She threw seven innings, surrendering zero runs, three hits, striking out five, and walking one.

Allison Shepherd took the loss for ALC. She pitched six innings, allowing four runs, and nine hits.

Alice Lloyd didn’t commit a single error in the field. Sturgill had the most chances in the field with six.
