PIPPA PASSES, KY – The Alice Lloyd College Eagles were defeated Tuesday night by the red-hot Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, 91-63. The River States Conference matchup was played at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center.

In the opening half, the visitors came out of the gates with all systems on fire. They drained six early bombs and were ahead 20-3 with 12:16 remaining.

The shell-shocked hosts then settled down and went on a 13-3 run of their own, capped off by freshman forward Ian Lee’s trifecta at the 9:16 mark to set the score 23-16. The fans breathed a sigh of relief and settled down for a dogfight.

Unfortunately, the Trailblazers refused to cooperate and closed out the half by outscoring ALC 25-12.  On the strength of 9-19 three-point shooting, they would take a twenty point lead (48-28) into the locker room.

In the second half, the Eagles were never able to mount a serious comeback as every challenge they made was answered by a triple from OCU to squash the threat.

For ALC (4-10; 2-3 RSC), junior forward Jake Allen was the only player to score double-figures as he tossed in 10 points. Lee added 9 off the bench. Junior guard Austin Crisp and sophomore forward Sean Ross led the club with 7 rebounds apiece while three different Eagles each had 2 assists.

Alice Lloyd was undone by frigid shooting from the field, connecting on just 27.8% (20-72), including 32.1 % (9-28) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 60.9% (14-23). Additionally, they registered 41 rebounds, 2 steals, 8 assists, and 2 blocks.

Ohio Christian (1-3; 6-10 RSC) was led by Marquis Jackson with 20 points and Austin Marciniak with 18. Their club connected on 51.6% (33-64) from the field and a staggering 50% (17-34) from long range. They hit 72.7% (8-11) from the foul line. They also had 38 rebounds, 2 steals, 8 blocks, and 16 assists.

The Eagles return to action this weekend as they are home to face the 10th ranked Indiana University East Red Wolves in conference play. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
