Pippa Passes, KY: The Kentucky Christian University Knights outscored the Alice Lloyd Eagles 19-11 over the final 6:32 to earn an 88-80 victory on Tuesday night, January 10th. The game was played in Pippa Passes.

In the opening half, the game was tight throughout as neither team led by more than five points. Knight guard Matthew Lee gave his club a 31-26 lead with 7:03 remaining on a trifecta, only to see the hosts come back and tie the score on a hoop from freshman guard Blake Smith two minutes later. The visitors would manage to take a 42-40 lead into the locker room at intermission.

In the second half, the Eagles would come out with an 11-5 run and regain the lead at 51-47 four minutes in, courtesy of a driving bucket from sophomore guard Alex Sergent. However, the hosts were never to shake their foes as KCU answered with a quick 9-0 blitz to vault ahead 56-51.

Over the next seven minutes of action, ALC would outscore Kentucky Christian 18-9. When junior guard Austin Crisp scored on a strong take to the hoop, the Eagles had moved in front 69-65 with 7:26 remaining.

However, as they had done all game long, KCU would answer.  Knight guards Brandon Barnes and Trenton Walker would score four points each over a decisive 8-0 run that put the visitors ahead 73-69 at the 4:31 mark. The host Eagles would get within one point, but the guests slammed the door shut from the charity stripe.

For ALC (4-12), junior forward Jake Allen connected on 10-11 from the floor for 21 points; he added a team-high 5 rebounds. Smith drained 8-12 from the floor (including two impressive dunks in traffic) and finished with 18. Sergent finished 6-8 and contributed 13. Sophomore guard Ryan House led in assists with 4.

Alice Lloyd connected on an excellent 57.1% (36-63) from the field, but was just 23.1% (3-13) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 60.9% (14-23). Additionally, they registered 28 rebounds, 4 steals, 11 assists, and 1 block.

Kentucky Christian (5-12) was led by Hayden Dunn with 25 points.  Barnes and Walker were right behind with 23 and 22 points respectively. Their club connected on 51.9% (27-52) from the field and a solid 40.9% (9-22) from long range. They iced the game from the foul line where they outscored the Eagles by twenty points: they hit an excellent 83.3% (25-30). They also had 29 rebounds, 6 steals, and 12 assists.

The Eagles return back to action this week in two important River States Conference tilts. On Thursday the 12th, they travel to Wilmore to face the Asbury University Eagles at 8:00 pm. They then return home on Saturday the 14th to battle the Midway University Eagles at 4:00 pm.
