The ALC Theatre Club and Director Charles Mullins are pleased to announce the cast of the 2017 spring stage production, The Oz Monologues.

The Oz Monologues by Darby Wills Chism is a hilarious behind-the-scenes look at “The Wizard of Oz,” revealing what really happened when Dorothy landed in Oz.“Whether we came to know the story through the original children’s book or through the classic movie adaptation with Judy Garland,” Director Mullins told the Eagle, “I feel very strongly that most audience members hold this fairy tale close to their hearts.”

“Whether we came to know the story through the original children’s book or through the classic movie adaptation with Judy Garland,” Director Mullins told the Eagle, “I feel very strongly that most audience members hold this fairy tale close to their hearts.”

Audience members will learn what became of the other characters after Dorothy left Oz, and the secret behind the “magical” ruby slippers. The Lion describes his battle with an addiction to McMunchkin Meals and how he changed his diet to include only natural, organic foods. Since getting a brain, the Scarecrow relates his ongoing problems with anxiety and insomnia. The Tin Man details his rise to fame as a reality TV star and his latest book, “My Ordeal with Dorothy.”

“I think the characters that we all know and love will always be ingrained in the childhoods of successive generations,” Director Mullins went on to say, “There have already been prequels, sequels, and re-tellings of this story. Similarly, this play gives us a comical glimpse into what happened after Dorothy left the Land of Oz and returned home. Although it is a farcical, contemporary spin on the Oz story, it pays a wonderful tribute to the legacy.”

Students of the ALC Theatre Club are excited to return to the stage in the Campbell Arts Center this April.  Stage Manager Natalie Romeo added, “We are all excited to begin work on this production. The students of our cast and our crew have dedicated themselves to staging this year’s play, and we eagerly anticipate what their hard work will accomplish.” Come out April 6th-8th to support the ALC Theatre Club and share a few laughs with your community.
